He makes a very good point, and I think that the biggest critics of Bush and the Iraq war tend to forget that while Saddam was in control things were forcibly more "peaceful"-looking from the outside. Maybe we just had no idea of the depth of suppressed hostility among the different groups. And now, like a volcano, it will erupt until its potential energy has been exhausted. Well, maybe that's a bad comparison. I don't know. But I do agree with that article.
