Evolution Vs. Intelligent Design

Science without religion is lame,
religion without science is blind.

AND THEN WHAT?

AND THEN WHAT?
Wonderful thought provoking poetry.

Simplicity

X versus U has a delightful story of snow innocence. He doesn't know that he does lives in a book.

Why we can't figure out our government

The Congressional Millionaires Club an article by Charles Sullivan explains quite succinctly why everyone else in America is out of touch with the actions of those sent to "govern" us. It doesn't matter whether you're liberal or conservative, your representation is already owned by some third party special interest or else just the financial interests of those we've voted in.

Recycling we will go

Here's the ton (literally) of stuff we hauled to the steel recyclers today.

Once upon a time in America

This article saddens me but it is good to see someone reflect upon it. Whatever happened to our common sense?
Once upon a time in America

Brrrrr

It's chilly.
Today we'll finish loading the steel to take to the recyclers. This'll be our third trip. Probably spend the rest of the day on pruning and clean-up. If the weather holds through the weekend we'll finally get the big air-supported greenhouse up.
Slept really well last night for once except for a few stupid dreams this morning about getting caught in a flood (guess what caused that) so maybe today will be a good day.
To my lady: wherever, whoever you are; may the butterflies bring you happiness kisses.
to the rest of you: have a wonderful moment.

Patient's Progress

Patient's Progress
I don't know why but I can somehow relate to this fella.

Spirits on the wind

The clouds are moving with that eye-catching glamour.
The funeral was an emotionally intense experience. I sometimes forget how empathic I can be. It was impressive how many people showed up to see the old soldier off. Had a 15 gun salute and everything. I was fortunate to overhear several of our soldiers sharing an exchange "Courage, honour and duty" were the only words I caught but it struck home. My eyes should be clear by tomorrow.
Wishing peace and well being to you.

The Rogue runs high again

Heavy rain yesterday and last night have swollen the Rogue again. We always measure it by how far it can be seen across the neighbors roof. I don't think it's quite to flood stage but I'm sure the RVers are getting nervous if they haven't already bugged out.
Now reading the third book in Robert Jordan's "Wheel of Time" series. "The Dragon Reborn" pretty good stuff.
Going to Byron's funeral at 11 today. Hope the rain holds off for at least part of that. Have to see the old boy off; another person who was a better friend than I appreciated. Really wish he could have made it to one more corn season.
Terrible night last night. Pains from my back, pinched nerve, pulled muscles and wisdom teeth kept me up from 2:30 to 5:00 and when I did drift back into slumber weird dreams awaited me.
I hope your day is far finer and resplendant!

Cessation of Condensation

Just a light sprinkle blowing through now and again.
Spent a little of this afternoon with Blind Gregory. Mostly bulls**ting about events and circumstance. Stories about banking snafus and trouble we used to get into when we were young. I've only known Greg for about 3-4 years but it's pretty funny all the stupid stuff we share in common from our youth. His woodshop is coming together quite nicely.
This weather really makes me miss my lady. I wonder where she is today, what she's up to? Hope life is treating her well; if she's really my mirror then she deserves it more than I do.
Mhmmm, barley and beef vegetable soup for dinner. Filling and delightful.
Enjoy yourself or no one else will.

One day on one day off

Well I'm not really off today, but it is raining really hard again. Yesterday was busy, I got a lot of grapes and apples pruned and a bunch more blackberries hacked out of the grapes.

Today Dad and I went and got vermiculite and perlite from the Grange Coop for making our sprouting mixes and potting soil. Already have the sphagnum moss and steer manure.

Sad news again, a good friend of the family, Byron Cummings passed away. Will be attending his service tomorrow and am having that weird feeling of dread and detachment that always comes with any event that involves more than a few people. I'm not really phobic, just heavily unnerved. My best wishes to Byron's family.

And a happy and wonderful day to you, whoever you are.

Whoa! is me...

Man-oh-man! was I ever a slacker today. Just reading some stuff by James Burke. His "Connections" book. Also working through the second book in the wheel of time series. "The Great Hunt."
The only real activity today was a little blackberry chopping and I did move the parts for my plant tissue culture project around. Have everything together and the first batch of chemicals measured out but still need to sterilize my containers and prep the clean room. Going to do 2 batches: 1) with the chems and PPT but no pressure cooking and 2) the same but pressure cooked to sterilize. Testing the efficacy of my PPT, it's a little old.
Dad got the first 300 tomato sprouts going and many, many onion seeds planted. Oh yeah, we also spent a little time cleaning up in the small greenhouse and prepping the 'mums for growth prior to rooting.
Mom's making pizza tonight. Wish my lady was here to share.
Have a great day, whoever you are.

my evil reading

If you want to see how evil you are go here

Rain on the farm

Ho-hum day above the mighty Rogue River. Went to Blind Gregory's and helped him some move some house plants and did some setup around his woodshop. He's got 2 big walls knocked out his old trailer and all the saws moved inside. For a dude who's losing his eyesight and has MS he's a real go-getter.
No pruning, no planting. Well, might plant some cut-flowers this evening. Dad may have today.
Did make it to the library. Had like 15 books to pick up. Did I mention JCLS rules?
Rain. Rain. Rain. a little less rain. Rain.

my brain pattern?

Guy's Brain Pattern

You have a tempered, reasonable way of thinking.
You tend to take every new idea in, and meld it with your world view.
For you, everything is always changing. Each moment is different.
Your thinking process tends to be very natural - with no beginnings or endings.

Chased in

Rain! What is it good for? Absolutely everything.
But you do tend to get wet.
Skee-daddled myself in out'na that there cloudburst.
Was having fun chop'n black-n-berries.
Only a few thorns makin' it through my leather glooves.
I got them for Christmas.
The gloves not the thorns.
The grapes are starting to shape up a little.

Rain and scheduling

This day has become scrambled. Had plans to go weld this morning but that fell through because of my sister-in-law had a medical appointment. Compressed discs and something called a "tiara" condition. Creapy. A little prayer for her to get better. So we'll be doing that after 1pm.
Dad is building shelves for the african violet room. Mom's got loads of those and more coming. Should be a nice little market this spring/summer. I wanted to work on plant tissue culture this morning but conditions are wrong, namely a chunk of ceiling collapsed in the west wing of the barn. Seems the leak there was worse than I thought. I guess I could sterilize some agar but then I'd have to quick pour it which necessitates a whole series of other actions.
Uhg! and many more days of rain to come.
Despite all that I'm glad to be alive and I hope your day is going super.
