Blister beetle bedamned (icky! pic warning)

Got a blister beetle trapped beneath my sandal-strap a couple days ago. Hadn't heard of those dang things since I was a kid but apparently some are living in my tomato patch (they feed on solanacea ) so no more sockless sandals for me! The blister is a little bigger than a 50 cent piece:

Sure makes walking all the miles I cover in a day a mighty joy.

  • Wow, that looks bad. Be sure to put some neosporin on it to keep it from getting infected. I like the kind with added pain relief too.

  • If you put some honey on it under a bandaid it will heal much more quickly - just stay away from ants!Sure it was a blister beetle and not a hobo spider? They have showed up in droves around my woodpiles. My banty chickens are having a ball.
